Beholding Generations Birth Doula Services
{Serving women & families during their significant seasons of beholding their generations}
About
Oneicesa (o-knee-suh) Washington of Beholding Generations Birth Doula Service.
Oneicesa is a Birth Doula. Ever since she was little, and not much bigger than the baby she was trying to hold, she has been captivated by babies and pregnancy. She knew by age 12, that she would help deliver babies. The older she became; she recognized it as her calling from God. Did you know 'Doula' is a Greek word that means "to serve"?! It has been her honor, as a doula, to help serve women and their families during one of the most significant parts of their lives-beholding their posterity! Their promise, their miracle!
As your doula, she will be a consistent part of your birth team. To every birth, first and foremost, she will bring her faith in Jesus Christ, providing prayer intercession, for you and with you every step of the journey. She has her own testimony of her miracle pregnancy and baby, after three miscarriages, and offers compassion and understanding to her families who have suffered loss(es). She will journey with you in navigating your holistic health and the holistic health of your baby(ies). She will journey with you through mental and emotional encouragement. She will help empower you and your family to know how to effectively communicate the ways you want and need to be cared for.
Having 17 years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, Oneicesa can proficiently and calmly, navigate and flow well in the birthing room. In her non-clinical role as a doula, she will help you understand how to navigate the clinical aspects of your birth.
Oneicesa lives in Winston-Salem, NC with her husband, Joshua and two daughters, Joshlyn (their oldest who attends college in Alabama) and Victoria Joy. When she is not assisting a birth, Oneicesa enjoys her blessings of her family, homeschooling her youngest, serving and living a life of deep faith unto God with her church family/tribe and working with first time mothers.
"Our experience with Oneicesa was amazing. I had always wanted a natural, unmedicated childbirth but was always talked out of it. This time, everything was different. When we walked in the room, she was more than my doula, she was my prayer warrior. I was able to fully surrender to my birth knowing she was there to support me and my husband, not only physically but spiritually. She provided us with a calming environment even before we got to the hospital. In our prenatal visits she answered my questions and helped me feel confident going into the birth of my son. When the day finally arrived Oneicesa played a crucial role.
Birth is a spiritual thing, it's a portal moment in your life. God blessed us by sending Ezra to our arms. Having Oneicesa there to cover us in prayer, remind us of our goals and be there as our support, she was an irreplaceable presence. My birth experience was the most empowering thing I've ever been through and Oneicesa was a vital part of that day. - Krystl Tesh
"I am so grateful to Oneicesa for her excellence and compassion. She was attentive and intentional throughout the pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum journey. She answered my questions, made me feel safe, and respected my choices for my birth experience. She helped me think through my birth plan and provided realistic feedback without instilling fear. In the delivery room, she helped me and my husband to know how to advocate for ourselves in the moment; it was empowering to know how and when to speak up. Her spiritual awareness is also something that I deeply value. I appreciated her wisdom and insight, but her prayers for me were priceless. I felt totally at ease with her by my side throughout what can be a very scary time. Everyone needs an Oneicesa!" - Katelyn Williams
"As a person of color, you often times wonder if you will receive the same attention and care when going into a hospital setting. Oneicesa eased that worry by helping me engage each medical professional with proper questions. She also helped me attend to my wife's needs in ways I could have never imagined and for that I am thankful. Oneicesa is a Godsend." Rodney Williams
"Oneicesa was such a blessing as my daughter's birth doula. She is truly walking in her calling. She brought such a sense of peace and calm to the room. She made certain that we all kept the atmosphere positive and Holy. She was such an encouraging, spiritual cheerleader that we never doubted that the delivery would go flawlessly. Oneicesa is very knowledgeable about every aspect of labor and delivery but never tried to, "run the show" or act as though she were in charge. She was wonderful in helping us understand what was going on at every stage and made suggestions but left each choice that needed to be made, up to my daughter and husband. Oneicesa worked so well with the doctors and nurses. She never told them what to do, but she did make sure that they were attentive to my daughter's needs. My daughter was in labor for 24 hours and Oneicesa was there the entire time. Not once did she ever make us feel that she had somewhere else that she would rather be. It was difficult for me and my son-in-love to watch my daughter in pain, but Oneicesa supported and encouraged us too. She let us know that our presence and our prayers mattered and that we were all a part of the team that would help get to the goal of a healthy and happy Mom and baby. I am convinced that the delivery went so well because God sent Oneicesa to be a part of it! I will forever be thankful for her!"- Jessica Shepherd
"Everything happens for a reason!! When I was recommended to Oneicesa I was not for sure if I was going to be able to receive doula services but after speaking with Oneicesa we were able to work things out. Her love for what she does shows, and I could see that during our first conversation and there was an instant click where I knew the right decision was made, to choose her as my doula. As a first-time mom it was imperative to me to have a doula, one who shares the same beliefs as me. Also, one who wanted to ensure as a Black woman my opinions and voice were heard. Oneicesa not only advocated for me, she allowed me to advocate for myself, but she also offered so much more than that. She's fearless and my family and I couldn't be more grateful for the role she played in the delivery of Baby Emmiliana! From our first conversation, the face to face meet ups, all the way to the hospital, Oneicesa was there. I don't know how my hospital experience would have been without her there! If you're looking for a doula who is God-fearing, educated, understanding, and devoted to providing you the best experience and you are eager to learn Oneicesa is the best choice. Oneicesa is not just our doula, she is now family and deserves to share her expertise with the world, as there are not too many doulas who shares the passion that she has as a doula!" Baby Emmiliana, Mommy LaQuasha and Daddy Travis
